Introduction

White-rumped Swift breeds mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, although there are small populations in Morocco and Spain.

The species has only recently been recorded in the UK: a first-year bird was recorded on the afternoon of 14 October 2018 at Hornsea Mere, Yorkshire.
