Identifying Iceland Gull and Glaucous Gull

Identifying Iceland Gull and Glaucous Gull

Iceland and Glaucous Gulls are scarce winter visitors to the UK. They often occur singly amidst groups of commoner species like Common Gulls, Herring Gulls and Lesser and Great Black-backed Gulls, when different age plumages, mixed-species flocks and poor light conditions can make identification tricky.

Our identification video will help you learn the key features of both species so you can pick out these so-called 'white-winged' gulls with confidence.
