Building communities

Building communities

One of our strengths is the breadth of opportunities for people to be part of our community through their shared love of birds. That we have such a vibrant community emphasises that what we are doing matters to a great many people. We are working to broaden our community, and co-creating opportunities with audiences that are new to us.

Building local communities

The Regional Network sits at the very heart of BTO. The dedication and commitment of our Regional Representatives, Regional Ambassadors and Regional Organisers is truly remarkable, and the work of BTO would simply not be possible without their support. The Network gives us visibility at a local level, and provides a local point of contact for our volunteers and supporters. It is particularly well-integrated with regional bird clubs and other local conservation groups.

We are also working with partner organisations to deliver support to other local communities, including many for whom access to nature is a new opportunity. By empowering these communities to engage with birds and nature, as well introducing them to our organisation and its our work, we have been able help them with other aspects of their lives. The Together Through Nature is a good example of this type of project.
