Scientific research
Our research in England focuses on key habitats, species and policy-relevant issues, and is delivered within BTO's UK-wide research framework. We have ongoing work on land-use policies, particularly those relating to farming and woodland management, on biodiversity and urban development, and on priority species - such as Curlew, Nightingale and Nightjar.

Engagement
Our core monitoring work relies on our dedicated volunteers, but finding volunteers to cover bird survey sites can be difficult, particularly in more remote areas.
To ensure that we have enough volunteers, now and in the future, we need to carefully steward our valued supporters, and to continually engage with new people and support their development.
