BTO publishes various reports, from those covering the annual results of core surveys, through scientific studies, and on to those produced in partnership with other organisations. Many of these are published as BTO Research Reports. You can access all of our reports from here, though note that we are currently updating the reports section, working backwards through time to bring all of the report pages into a consistent format. The Wash Bird Decline Investigation 2014

Several studies have documented population declines in species of waterbird that winter on The Wash SPA and are protected as non-breeding features. With a few exceptions, the reasons for these declines are not clear cut.This project brought together findings from a wide range of studies to the identify drivers of population change on The Wash, where possible, for 15 species, and to make recommendations about measures that could be taken to halt or reverse these trends.

This report is the published outcome of the work of the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) Seabird Coordinator, appointed in February 2013, and the activities of the evolving Northern Ireland Seabird Network of volunteers, and organisations such as National Trust, Ulster Wildlife and the RSPB that have provided data for 2015 and previous years.
